On Oct 9th, we celebrated STEMLAND’s 10th anniversary. We had planned stalls on EBDs, IKS methods, STEM games, puzzles, crafts, and more, organized by our team members as well as by children from our partner schools. The children were very excited to enjoy and learn hands-on activities in programming, maths, and puzzles.

The celebration began with the children, following our usual morning meeting routine. Anitha Ma’am offered songs, and Isai children presented songs and a tabela performance. Their performances added a special charm to the event.

The next day, during the morning meeting, all our team members reflected on the event: what went well and what could be improved, to identify gaps and how to address them. We also reviewed our contributions to supporting the STEMLAND birthday celebration. Here are some of the accomplishments that give a perspective from the organizers. I felt accomplished

  • When children wanted to print their 3D design and model it.
  • In supporting students to set up their stall, also supported Aikiyam school students to reach their school. I felt connected and grounded.
  • About the electronics stall – this project was new to all the students and they got an idea of making a circuit using simple components. From different stalls and different exposure children benefitted from it.
  • On stall setup and arrangements.
  • When a few days before STEM Land’s 10th birthday celebration, I decided that AIAT SDML II year students will make some interactive games to engage with children. We didn’t have enough time, so we worked after college hours until late evening and I saw how the students enjoyed working on these projects. This also improved my confidence that I can pull of something like this with a team and gave me a sense of fulfillment.
  • Doing the craft work. I am able to see every child as more energetic and grateful doing the Kirigami paper work. When they have done the work they felt happy and I can see the collaboration of team work. This event is helpful for children to learn about more new things and how to connect in every-day life.
  • In supporting my 5th grade children for the showing and explaining their project ( all my class students conducted the stem activities)
  • In coordinating and supporting the 8th grade students in holding their stalls. Asked all the alumni for videos. Created poster and sent to news and notes. Created an email list for invitations. Supported others in setting up their stalls like finding the posters and finance.
  • Opening a computer delivering to students about how the computer operation flow happening through hardware.
  • In sharing the skill with each of the students and mentors likely feel grateful.
  • That the children I worked with were enthusiastically engaged in their stall and able to explain the projects clearly
  • In supporting children to engage and participate in the activities and supported children to make projects on Polypad.
  • To support the visual mathematics stall. I strengthened my teamwork skills, deepened my understanding of mathematical concepts, and learned how to make learning joyful through collaboration and creativity. Seeing the children take ownership, explain with confidence, and inspire others was a true achievement. This celebration reminded me that meaningful learning happens when we explore, create, and share together.
