Press Release:

[translated from Tamil]

Since 2015, Auroville’s STEM Land has been pioneering integrated research and curriculum development by combining Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. It not only teaches practical vocational skills to rural youth near Puducherry but also excels in designing modern scientific and technological concepts for real-world applications

This success has made Auroville not only a symbol of international unity but also a remarkable destination for science

Under the guidance of the Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research (SAIIER), fifteen schools and a technical college operate under the Auroville Foundation. Within this framework, STEM Land has introduced a novel curriculum tailored grounded in ethical and universal values. This approach—a curriculum created for the grassroots community based on moral principles—has earned widespread acceptance and praise.

Students at the Auroville Institute of Applied Technology (AIAT) undergo two months of mandatory training, during which researchers from a unit known as C3-STREAM Land Designs a sister unit that works on Chip Design and Embedded Systems Programming while integrating instruction across Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics through STEM Land.

Operating in both service and commerce domains, C3-STREAM Land Designs and STEM Land actively engages in high-end technology while fostering inclusivity.

To make science education accessible to underprivileged communities, Auroville’s SAIIER STEM Land initiative runs an auxiliary learning facility within an underserved school complex. This complex also houses a C3STREAM Land Designs a commercial venture, where trained youth participate in ongoing projects such as software development, chip layout design, and driver development. Through these efforts, Auroville has been conducting advanced research in robotics and mechanical systems, producing software solutions for tech firms in Bengaluru and beyond.

Given the global prominence of chip technology—from drones and smartphones to data services and stock market systems—Auroville’s STEMland plays a critical role in this field. They specifically work on advanced chip designs that include advanced clock designs in modern frequency bands like 4G and 5G and computer board power systems.

Additionally, STEM Land imparts education in 3D printing, manufacturing of household appliances (like mixers, grinders, and electronic gadgets), and repair technologies. It also teaches ecological science and modern technology for environmental preservation, ensuring that future generations receive this knowledge.

Students who have completed the higher secondary (Plus 2) are trained in electronics hardware, including the manufacturing of electronic device chargers .

Moreover, STEMland offers a 10-day training program for younger students focused on drone-building, control mechanisms, and their creative applications—tailored to help the youth get hands-on exposure to drone technology .

According to Professor D. Amarnath of the technical college, Auroville has evolved beyond being a spiritual, cultural, and heritage town—it now stands as an innovative research hub where modern technology is made accessible even to lay people.
