Press Release:

[translated from Tamil]

Auroville successfully concluded the “Fifth Integrated Education Practitioners’ Gathering” (IEPG5) — a three-day conference initiated by Dr. Jayanthi S. Ravi, IAS, following her appointment as Secretary of the Auroville Foundation in 2021

Held in Auroville, the gathering focused on contemporary challenges such as digital addiction among children, and its negative effects on physical growth and creative development

More than 150 educators participated in the event, organized by the Sri Aurobindo International Institute of Educational Research (SAIIER)

During the conference, participants emphasized the risks of allowing parents to use mobile phones as digital babysitters, which can adversely affect children’s focus, social skills, and physical health

To address these issues, the educators agreed to implement strategies such as:

  • Reducing digital exposure for children;
  • Promoting physical activities and involvement in the arts; and
  • Rolling out these initiatives across both rural and urban areas through coordinated efforts
